Volatile chemicals, while typically used in a fume hood, may sometimes be used in conjunctionwith biological experiments which often require the use of a biosafety cabinet (BSC). We have derived a series of equations to calculate the internal concentration, maximum amount allowed safely and the time required for the evacuation of any volatile chemical, shown both by calculation and experimentation.
February 2016: Learn how USP <800> will impact primary and secondary engineering controls (e.g., biological safety cabinets, clean rooms, etc.). The webinar is intended to inform facilities that need to implement the new standards.
October 2015: Learn about biosafety cabinet design to maximize personnel and product protection, including the importance of the performance envelope, in this Lab Manager webinar featured Baker's Engineering Test Supervisor Aaron Johnson.
July 2015: Antibiotics are an essential part of the medical arsenal to treat and cure many infectious diseases. Their overuse, however, is not free of consequences. In this Cell Press webinar, sponsored by Baker Ruskinn, Martin Blaser, Michael Fischbach and Julie Segre discuss the interplay between human disease, antibiotics, and the microbiome, from tracking multiresistant bugs to understanding how antibiotics may be involved in obesity and the ways to mine the human microbiome to discover new drugs.
May 2015: Science Director Deborah Thibodeaux and Marketing Specialist Cheri Gaudet discuss in depth the types of humidity control technologies to look for to provide optimal relative humidity and condensation control for cell culture work. This 45-minute webinar, produced in partnership with Lab Manager, will be available until November 2015.
April 2015: Hear from our science director, Deborah Thibodeaux, as she answers some of the more pressing questions to controlling relative humidity and condensation in a CO2 Incubator. This web brief, produced in partnership with Mary Ann Liebert Publishers, will be available until September 2015.
