Microbiological And Quality Testing
The Baker Company is the only biological safety cabinet manufacturer to routinely subject its own equipment to extensive microbiological aerosol testing. This testing is the definitive criterion of performance and serves as the control for our extensive physical testing procedures as well.

  • The Baker biological laboratory maintains the industry’s most complete and continuous quality assurance testing program, assuring that every Baker cabinet adheres to the highest performance standards.
  • Staff microbiologists conduct basic and applied research, assist in new product development and evaluate each aerosol test. The lab includes an area for culturing and measuring bacteria. Researchers work in a sophisticated gas-tight room supplied with HEPA-filtered air.
  • Tests are performed on cabinets selected by the Baker Quality Assurance Department based on our statistical sampling method.
  • Testing procedures are designed to challenge cabinets under a variety of conditions, usually more severe than normal everyday use or demands set by applicable industry testing standards.
  • All selected cabinets, including all modified and custom-manufactured products, are subjected to microbiological tests using bacillus subtilis var. niger spores for determining personnel protection, product protection and cross-contamination within the cabinet.
